My Teatro-alla-Scala debut is tomorrow! (15.Mar.2018)

I have to keep this one super short as we’re gearing up for our concert of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scalla here in Milano tomorrow night.

It turns out tomorrow’s concert will be a big one as it’s officially my first-ever appearance in the Teatro alla Scala which I’ll make as a concertmaster of the Orchestra dell’Accademia Teatro alla Scalla!!

Honestly, it’s still hard to believe it’s happening.

I remember about 6 years ago I found myself in Milano on the way back to London and briefly visited that Scala Theatre (just in front of the entrance) as a mere outcast looking in, only fantasizing what it’d be like to be in there.

A theatre where some of the greatest artists and conductors in history have charmed the public away with miraculous effects -Herbert von Karajan, Claudio Abbado, Riccardo Chailly, Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta to name a few -.

And on 15th of March 2018 I’m sitting right in the centre of the stage of the Scala Theatre leading the orchestra of 60 young fabulous artists.

Such is the way of human adventures, I guess.

The programme is as follows (in the order):

Beethoven –  Ouverture to “Egmont”, Op.84
Schubert – Symphony No.7 “Unfinished”, D759
Schubert – Symphony No.3, D200

The concert will begin at 8 PM (GMT+1) in Italian time at Piazza della Scala 1, Milano. If you live or are staying in Milano, this is a concert you have to find a very good reason for missing out on.

A presto,

Hikaru M
